Families’ Bond Blooms into Love in Springfield

Families bond in many ways: location, church, civic groups and kids.

As kids, Maureen and John knew each other quite well. Their families in Springfield, Ill., had forged deep connections through church, camping trips and sports. While growing up, Maureen remembers John as just another one of her brother’s friends.

Fast forward many years, and those close bonds of friendship paved the way for something new.

About four years ago, Maureen’s sister decided these two should meet and invited them to a gathering to see if sparks would fly. The attraction was immediate, Maureen said, and they’ve been together ever since.

And in mid-November these two officially said their vows at St. John’s Lutheran Church followed by a gracious reception at the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield Double Tree Hilton Hotel.

Families welcome us in

Maureen and John are straight shooters who are warm, considerate and circumspect, and this couple welcomed us to their wedding weekend celebration with open arms.

When a Sweet Pea couple is on the modest side, we know we need to take extra care to find out how they communicate and show love.

We’ll never forget the quiet devotion to each other that these two shared. They were always checking in with each other, always making sure the other was doing OK.

But you can imagine our joy when we watched these two expressing their love in the most subtle of ways.

One of our favorites made it into their Sneak Peek.

It was during the ceremony processional when John got his first glimpse of Maureen walking toward him.

Suddenly a tiny smile crossed John’s face. And it said it ALL: love, joy, relief, pride, happiness.

But don’t blink, because the moment comes and goes in a flash, like a shooting star.

We’ll also never forget the hospitality that the Rodenburg and Moulton families and friends showed us that weekend. When we’re trusted to do our jobs, it actually makes our jobs so much easier!

We’ll also never forget how chilly it was, too. It’s a rare occasion for us to capture imagery of snow AND glorious fall color at the same time.

Congrats to the newlyweds, and we hope you enjoy their Sneak Peek as much as we have!

Cheers,

Cindy
