Life and Love Win at Gordon Lodge

Life is precious, and no couple knows that more than Jan and Brian.

These two gathered family and friends at Gordon Lodge in Baileys Harbor earlier this month for a renewal of their vows.

You see, these two had exchanged marriage promises earlier this year, just days before Jan underwent surgery for a major illness.

They had been planning the wedding of their dreams at their favorite place in the world: Door County. But Jan’s diagnosis, roughly 10 months before their scheduled wedding date, pushed these two to make it official before Jan had surgery. They both felt it was the right thing to do because they wanted their little girl, Coralie, to be protected.Jan hastily bought a dress online, Brian dusted off a suit and they put pretty ribbons in the hair of their precious daughter.

As many tears flowed at that quiet church wedding as did the smiles.

Thankfully, Jan’s surgery and recovery went well, and the two decided that after all the anguish and struggle they had faced, a celebratory party was in order. And what a party it was! We were also so happy to work with Chandra from Door County Event Planners and Jason Mann Photography. Those pros really know how to meld everyone into a team that works flawlessly for the couple.

Sun breathes life into a cloudy day

The day was supposed to be overcast, but the sun peeked out just in time for the ceremony. It also glowed at sunset for some truly gorgeous footage of these two.

The ceremony included three Filipino wedding traditions: a present of coins, a covering of a veil and a tying of the two in a silken rope. These rituals are always so symbolic when a couple is bringing together two cultures.

After a brief photo and video jaunt in the enchanted forests of Gordon Lodge, the couple joined their guests for a special presentation: a love story film about their journey.

We loved what Jan had to say about their vow renewal. She said they had always wanted to get married in Door County and this celebration was a chance to breathe in the fresh air, gather loved ones and celebrate the major victories they had won.

And Brian said it well, too: Many drinks of happiness were going to flow.

We can’t begin to explain how wonderful it was to capture Jan and Brian’s Love Story and Wedding. We hope you enjoy this Sneak Peek as much as we do!

Cheers,

Cindy
